Believe it or not, you CAN grow your LinkedIn network to 250+ followers in just 2 months

As at Oct 9 - two months after the launch of my blog covering high end properties in The Kuala Lumpur City Centre (360 KLCC) I now have about 280 followers on LinkedIn after reposting selected writings to my network.
I have previously blogged about the importance of RENs getting a LinkedIn profile if you intend to market high end properties, what you should put into your LinkedIn profile to highlight your achievements as a real estate professional, how to use property USPs and Walkability Scores to stand out from the competition, and in the last of my series of posts of using LinkedIn networks to generate marketing leads I want to share some of the highlights of my journey from zero followers to more than 250 in just two months.
Of course, to gain followers for your LinkedIn network, you need to demonstrate your credibility or in simple terms show how your particular expertise in a professional field can help your prospective clients. Some of the people you find on LinkedIn are new graduates or interns. Most are mid career professionals. And some of course are CEOs , directors and senior management.
How do you get them to follow you?
Why not start with a blog that you can use to demonstrate your expertise as a real estate professional in a neighbourhood, for example, Puchong or Kota Damansara that you know well. Talk about topics of interest that you think might be interesting to owners and tenants in that neighbourhood. Find your own authentic voice and share your experiences on the frontlines as a real estate professional. Check out Sean Tan’s Facebook page and YouTube channel ihergn for inspiration. Or a Penang based real estate agent’s website, PenangPropertyTalk.com that is simply amazing. Ken Lim’s website is also available as an IOS and Android app. He even posts virtual tours !
If you cannot find the time to post ORIGINAL pieces of writing every week like yours truly, please consider repurposing articles in iProperty.com or PropertyGuru. Then add value by giving your personal reaction to them. Next, pick out a suitable photo to accompany your blog post from sites like Unsplash that allow you to use free photos on your website in exchange for giving the photographer a picture credit.
You might even want to pool the effort to find suitable articles of interest to FTHBs and property investors with the members of your team. So each REN only takes a turn to contribute a post once a month or once every three months only. 👌
Some of you might have noticed that I actually have 3 blogs, including a photography blog called Seascapes that I update almost every day. So if a 63 year old “uncle” (for readers outside Malaysia, “uncle” is a common term for “Senior Citizen”) can find the time to maintain 3 blogs I am sure readers of this marketing blog for newbie RENs can manage one blog.
OK, and here’s the proof, folks, that it is NOT impossible to grow a LinkedIn network to more than 250+ followers in just two months. I actually have 288 followers as at Sunday, October 10, 2021. As they say in the local dialect in this part of Malaysia, that is a “Buay Pai” achievement.
