🤠's easy Ikan Bakar
🤠's easy Ikan Bakar cooked in banana leaf. You will need 3 Cencaru fish (in supermarkets, cencaru isthe cheapest fish you can find, often at less than RM10 per kilo), cleaned and gutted. I got my three medium sized cencaru for RM7 at Lotus supermarket. Banana leaf, cleaned and warmed over grill until edges are charred. About RM1,50 to RM2. A packet of Ikan Bakar paste, about RM1.50.
Step 1. Scale and gut fish. Make two slits either side of dorsal fin.
Step 2. Stuff ikan Bakar paste in slits.
Step 3. Heat 3 T oil in wok. Wrap fish in banana leaf, fasten with tooth picks. Tip: brush oil on leaf first
Step 4 Fry fish with wok cover on for 15-20 minutes, turning every 5 min. Tip: Lower heat to prevent banana leaf being burnt. Serve with sambal Belachan.
