Lagenda Cafe @ Carnavon Street

Lagenda Cafe moved from Campbell Street to its current location at one end of Carnavon Street near the junction with Chulia Street. Lagenda is a homage to P Ramlee, a prolific actor singer and composer active in the 1950s to 1960s. His song, Getaran Jiwa still sounds modern after so many years. And his slapstick movies eg the Bujang Lapuk series and more serious movies like Semerah Padi and Penarik Beja are now classics from the Golden Era of Malay movies.

The Malaysian food is authentic; the same people behind Irama, a fine dining restaurant are behind mid-market Lagenda. Prices are still higher than average though. My chicken rendang was presented with tumpang rice and separately, condiments and pickles in a congkak board. 👍 RM26.40. For Ramadan, Lagenda has two buffet menus - Malaysian at RM79++ for two and Western at RM130 for two.
