Hi Tea @Kesum Art Restaurant

Kesum is a small restaurant cum art and handicrafts gallery at Jalan Masjid Kapitan K****”. The restaurant is named after a herb commonly used in laksa, and serves Johor Malay cuisine in a casual setting.

The interior decor has oil paintings displayed on purple feature walls. There is a also a limited selection of handicrafts like woven bamboo handbags, batik printed cloth and Ikat dyed cloth bags for sale.

Set lunches at Kesum are affordable, and feature staples of Johore Malay and Indonesian cuisine like Ikan Pepes - minced fish, Johore Laksa (cooked with spaghetti, not rice vermicelli) and Gado Gado- salad of vegetables served with fritters in a peanut sauce. Prices at Kesum range from RM25 upwards. There is no service charge at Kesum.

I wanted to order the Southern Platter (ikan Pepes, satay and fish crackers) for tea but it was unavailable. I settled for a dessert of pulut hitam with ice cream and a plate of mini curry puffs RM9. 👍
