@Edelweiss Cafe @ Armenian Street

Edelweiss Cafe at Armenian Street is a more like a bistro with a bar than a cafe. Besides food, the cafe also serves excellent German beers $$$ and cocktails $$$ in the rather opulent but slightly eccentric setting of a Peranakan house. The interior is dominated by a large bar and an oversized European skeleton clock that still chimes out the hours.

The proprietors have a large collection of colonial era and Peranakan bric a brac. Some examples are the antique lamps and maps of Penang, Art Deco lampshades, Chinese wedding bed mantel pieces, a ship's bell, antique wall mirrors and ceiling lights.

The best place to sit are two kopitiam tables set at the airwell. Here you can see the open sky through a glass skylight.

My order of a half liter of imported German beer was RM34. There is no service charge at Edelweiss Cafe.
