Two Frenchies👍 @ Lebuh Bishop
A Sunday lunch at one of Penang's best kept secrets, the Two Frenchies $$ at Lebuh Bishop is a French bistro serving up good food at inexpensive prices (unless you are in the mood for wagyu steak $$$ 😜). Note there is limited parking around Lebuh Bishop, so come early to find a spot.
The interior is light and airy. A central bar divides two dining areas - one in front with banquette seating and another bigger dining area inside.
The food at the Two Frenchies is beautifully presented. My duck confit order came on a plate with mashed potatoes, and a side salad. The duck leg was fork tender but I think this was a typical skinny Malaysian duck. Water in a wine bottle is free. A bread basket with a pat of real butter was complimentary - a nice touch. Service is friendly and efficient. No sign of any Frenchmen though.
Upstairs has a private dining room and more tables. A reservation is probably a good idea at the weekends. I arrived at 12 noon and had no trouble getting a table. But the crowd starts to arrive around 1230pm.
A selection of frozen takeaway dishes are available to order. With a cup of latte RM11++, my lunch of duck confit was RM58. The weekday set lunches seem good value for your money. Prices start from RM20++
