High Tea@Palm Court, E&O

E&O's High Tea is available at Palm Court, a tea room, bistro and bar modelled after a formal English drawing room. Adjoining it is Java Tree, E&O's fine dining restaurant which I think opens only for dinner. Palm Court serves a la Carte lunches comprising Asian and Western dishes in an opulent setting.

I arrived at 230pm, a bit early because Palm Court opens at 3pm. But I was made welcome, and settled down with a pot of one of E&O's special blended teas - a floral Orange Pekoe- to await the arrival of my high tea cakes and sandwiches. Apparently the tea time crowd at Palm Court arrives only around 4pm. So except for a group of guests that had lunch earlier I was the only person having early High Tea at Palm Court from 230 to 4pm.

As a semi serious collector of Art Deco books, I like Palm Court's Art Deco inspired lighting fixtures eg the wall scones, brass candelabras and the large wall mirrors. There is a strikingly impressive and beautiful curved black lacquer bar with mirrored shelves that takes design cues from the 1920s era. 👍
