Mee Siam With Coffee @ Arati Vilas, Tanjung Bungah
Back to where my Penang food blog all began last October , at Arati Vilas, Tanjung Bungah for the value for money breakfast of Mee Siam with fried egg and Kopi Tarik (RM5). No frills Mee Siam here without the usual chicken. But you can't complain when you look at your bill. Prices are inexpensive at this popular neighborhood Indian restaurant. The staff and proprietor are also super friendly. π
NB. I see you can now get your own self service breakfast by picking up a plate to add sausages, eggs etc. Good idea to keep costs down. π
βWhen in Rome, do as the Romans...β Forks and spoons are provided on the tables for diners unaccustomed to eating with their fingers in Indian restaurants π .
Post Script & Announcement
I have a new blog, Cooking4Seniors that focuses on cheap (under RM30 mostly) meals that are delicious and can be whipped up quickly. My USPS are : Save U time. Save U money. And no, you donβt need to be a senior to try out my recipes π€ͺπ
Why should YOU check out my blog ,Cooking4Seniors?
I provide tips how to reduce cooking time eg by using an inexpensive pressure cooker for usually time consuming recipes like rendang and soups. And how to use a inexpensive sous vide immersion heater and water bath to cook inexpensive cuts of meat, eggs, seafood etc.
All the recipes have been tested out in my kitchen. Some are heritage recipes from my Mum, adapted to cut down time or improve flavours.
Clear instructions illustrated by photos of ingredients and key steps
Where possible I include cost information and where I get ingredients
According to a former PM, food tastes better when you use your fingers β¦.
But as a patriotic Malaysian foodie, I donβt really care how you do it - fingers, fork & spoon, or chopsticks. Food is perhaps the big unifier of Malaysians. Why ? I think all true blue Malaysians agree you can eat Nasi Lemak for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And the durian is the King of fruits.
