Muze Pens @ Tai Nan Street, Sham Shui Po
Muze Pens at Tai Nan Street, Sham Shui Po is a four year old pen store that has a surprisingly wide selection of fountain pens, inks and stationery. For example I noticed the store carries pens and inks by The Ferris Wheel Press , a upmarket Canadian company that has been gaining a lot of notice for their elaborate packaging and design.
Most of the pen shops in Hong Kong are in Central or Tsim Tsa Chui. They tend to cater to an affluent market segment where fountain pens are seen as status symbols. But Muze Pens sells starter fountain pens from as cheap as HKD 38 to well over HKD 50,000 for limited edition pens.
Service is super friendly. I brought in a old Aurora 88 FP that was broken in two at the ink window and had a snapped piston end. A staff told me I could leave it with them to get an estimate of the repair cost in Italy. After 20 years, I think Aurora Pen still makes the 88 model. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed there are still spare parts available.
Muze Pens currently has a 10% discount on inks. So if you are looking to stock up on a new bottle, why not drop by the store and explore the area. Parts of Shamshuipo are now gentrified - along Tai Nan Street I counted at least 3 cafes.
