Hunting For Vinyl LPs @ Tung Choi Street, Mongkok

There are two famous record shops at Tung Choi Street -Beat Records and Win Win Shop seem to have been there for decades. While classical LPs and nostalgic Teresa Teng reissues are still stocked, they are now joined by Canto Pop LPs. It's a strange sight to see new LPs and CDs still being sold in 2022 when most people have already switched to listening music on their smartphones.

I ripped my entire CD collection into computer files and stored them on a music server years ago. I also sold my CD players. Now like everyone, I listen to my music collection via an app on my android phone or iPad. I can switch from my Bluetooth earphones to my internet enabled hifi system using my android phone as a controller.

At Beat Records, the records are piled high without seeming regard for classification. The shop's collection also seems to be smaller than the other record shop, Win Win.

Win Win has large window displays of LP box sets and reissues that are visible from the street. I also think Win Win stocks more Jazz, Rock and Classics LPs. Prices though are similar to Beat Records.
