Ciao Gelato @ Victoria Street

Just opened on 1 May, Ciao Gelato at Victoria Street claims to be Penang's first authentic Italian gelato store. You can't miss the store along Victoria Street- there is a big plastic man outside 🤠. Prices are considerably cheaper than other ice cream parlours in Georgetown, just RM7 per serve.

The proprietors (pharmacists with a love of gelato) certainly know how to do social media marketing: they offer a RM5 discount on your next visit if you upload a review 👍

Italian gelato uses more milk than cream compared to other types of ice cream. The gelato in Penang contains less sugar than in Europe to suit local taste palettes. I was told Ciao Gelato normally has 7-8 gelato and sorbet flavours available, but others are available on rotation.

My bill for a single serve hazelnut gelato was RM7.😋
