Visconti Midnight Voyager FP

One of my earliest purchasers of a Visconti pen was this Midnight Voyager in black lucite (ie plastic) with Platinum trim, circa 2000. It is a oversized (big) pen fitted with a large Visconti two tone 18K nib.

Back when I was a pen collector in Hong Kong during the 1990s , I remember Visconti used to produce both 14K and 18K nibs. I see the modern Visconti pens like the Van Gogh range are now fitted with steel nibs and have a simpler clip, reminiscent of a 20 year old model, the Millennium Arc. In the 1990s, Visconti made a reputation for being bold and innovative in its filling mechanisms as well as old skool materials like celluloid and ebonite. But recent models look much the same, only the colour of the acrylic barrels being different.

Do the new steel nibs write just as well as the old 14K and 18K gold nibs? I wonder….
