FAQs

  1. Why launch another cooking blog for seniors? OK I get it. Cooking blogs are a dime a dozen. But Cooking 4 Seniors is aimed at people who want to cook delicious meals at home CHEAPLY & QUICKLY. Food prices have gone up significantly, fueling inflation in many countries. In March 2022, food prices in Malaysia were up 4% YoY , the major determinant of a 2.2% spike in CPI in March. So it makes economic sense to know how to save $ by cooking meals at home.

  2. Are you going to launch a YouTube channel? Yes, I hope so.

  3. Why should anyone read your blog- I mean are you a good cook? Well, unlike many good cooks I didn't have grandparents who were great cooks. My mum cooked mostly economical meals for our family of 5 kids plus my paternal grandmother who lived with us. I am largely a self taught cook.

Thanks to the internet, I have picked up lots of ideas and tips from YouTubers like Flo Lum and Cooking Ah Pa. Plus I aced Organic Chemistry lab practicals at Uni. Once anybody has spent 3 hours handling concentrated sulphuric acid in a fume chamber, cooking rendang for 3 hours on a stove pot is a cinch. 🤠

  4. What's the most expensive piece of kitchen equipment you own? That would be my 8 in Cook's knife by Zwilling JA Henckels, which cost S$200 (RM600) before discount at Takashimaya departmental store in Red Dot Island 20 years ago. The Twin Select knife, which is now discontinued, is more expensive than my sous vide heater RM160 and water bath RM80, my pressure cooker RM200 and slow juicer RM350. But Zwilling claims the stainless steel is “Rust Free” and should “ last a lifetime”. 😜
