The Datai @ Langkawi Island - Day 1/3
The Datai is a nearly 30 years old luxury resort hotel set on 1400 acres of land at Datai Bay in the north of Langkawi Island. Only about 50 acres have been developed. I think it was one of the first eco tourism projects in Malaysia. Most activities at the resort are free (some cost RM100 for example the Journey Through The Forests), including guided tours of the rainforest habitat by the hotel's staff from its own Nature Centre.
The hotel places emphasis on living with nature, recycling its waste water and food waste.
Accessible by a short 5 minute buggy ride from the hotel is the Beach Club and it's restaurant and outdoor bar.
