Housed in a two storey residence at Jalan Moulmein behind Pulau Tikus Pasar, Hana Thai Kitchen $$ serves home style authentic Thai food. That means the food might be too 🌶️🔥🌶️ for some locals.
Decor is DIY with the usual oil paintings of Thai scenes, eg elephants, torch ginger plants etc. There is alfresco seating in the compound outside, covered by awnings.
The menu is geared towards sharing platters. So come in a group with your colleagues or friends so you can order different dishes.
The Seafood Tom Yam soup 🌶️🌶️🌶️ is clear, with sour, salty, sweet and umami flavours in balance. My bowl held 5 medium sized freshwater prawns with mushrooms, coriander root, cilantro, galangal slices, lemon grass, and lime leaves used as flavouring.
You can actually see the kitchen at back from the two dining rooms. Together with a sweet Thai dessert of santan and nangka, and a cup of soy milk, my bill was RM35.
