Khing Cafe @ Beach Street

Khing Cafe at Beach Street, a new cafe which commenced business on 1 June, has a laidback 1930s speakeasy vibe. It’s apparently named after the proprietor, a Mr Khing. The cafe walls and ceilings are mostly painted black, lighting is purposely kept dim but the black and white paintings on display are a smorgasbord of 1950s to 1980s movie and rock stars. There is a piano with a bust of Beethoven.

Seating is mainly banquette style benches and Chesterfield wing chairs. There is also an upper floor which I did not venture but it has more tables.

My latte was RM13.20. Khing Cafe also serves hot meals and snacks in addition to beverages. Staff are friendly but on the day I visited the place was full, so I had no time to chat. If you are having a meal, I think the dim lighting makes it difficult to see what you are eating.
