Narrow Marrow Cafe @Beach Street

The proprietors, Alvin & Jamie, who met at art college named Narrow Marrow Cafe at Beach Street after a favourite song by the The Smashing Pumpkins. Some of the art works hung on the walls are theirs. Narrow Marrow opened at its current premises at Beach Street about two years ago. Previously the cafe which opened in 2024 operated from premises at Carnavon Street.

The interior decor is quirky. The pocked marked walls and bare cement floors look original. Some tables are repurposed sewing machines. On display besides art works are vintage torchlights and 1960s bric a brac like cardboard luggage, typewriters, a record player and LPs. One wall has a large bookcase with hand made ceramic pots where I also spotted some books by Kafka.

Narrow Marrow bakes its own cakes and pastries on site. But on Thursday when I visited there are no cakes available.

My Latte was RM13 and was served in a hand made Wabi Sabi style cup with a crooked rim.
