Shou Zen Japanese Cuisine @ Pemberton Centre, Bonham Strand Road

We had a lunch reservation for two at 12 at Shou Zen 尚善 at Pemberton Centre, Bonham Strand Road. But on arrival, we found to our surprise there were no other diners.

Shou Zen is a Japanese restaurant popular with office workers during weekdays when it's almost impossible to get a table. So it looks like lots of people in Hong Kong are feeling the pinch of higher mortgage rates and a stock market already down by 30%. They are cutting back on discretionary spending in restaurants.

My better half and I both ordered the Roast Eel set lunch. Portions are big - I thought my set lunch was enough to feed two persons!

Service was friendly and efficient. The staff are happy to refill tea cups.
