Hai Beng kopitiam @Jalan Burmah
Just off the Pulau Tikus Pasar is Hai Beng, a small kopitiam that serves old fashioned CKT with fried lard pieces on banana leaf. Most people are so health conscious these days, the lard is almost always omitted from CKT. The CKT at Hai Beng hasn't got the same amount of Wok Hei as the version at Sin Hwa kopitiam though.
The Nasi Campur stall has an appetizing range of the usual fare, including fish head curry. The Hainanese Lor Mee stall has a sign saying “From 1957”, but I didn't have time to order a bowl.
