Imperial Smorgasbord@ Dr Lim Chwee Leong Street

Imperial Smorgasbord Dim Sum Restaurant @ Dr Lim Chwee Leong Street is a new Dimsum restaurant that opened in July. Upstairs is a bar that opens from 8pm until late.

The restaurant Interior Decor is casual traditional Chinese : lots of red lanterns, lots of bamboo latticed screens and bench style wooden seating. But the dim sum prices here look steep for the quality of food on offer and the presentation is on just plain white plates. At upmarket dim sum restaurants like CP Museum the higher prices reflect the better food quality, service and presentation (dim sum plates are decorated with flowers etc).

Imperial Smorgasbord is also the first Dimsum place I've eaten that does NOT serve traditional Cantonese dim sum staples like Chinese egg tarts, Chee Cheong Fun (steamed rice sheets) and Wu Kok (deep fried yam dumplings filled with meat) . Maybe the executive chef needs to rethink the menu. These are what fussy Hongkongers want to order at dim sum places.

I ordered shrimp rolls in tofu and two BBQ pork buns for a total of RM28.15. A bit pricy 🤔
