Coco Island food court @Gurney Drive
A new food court that opened last year, Coco Island $$ serves only Dim Sum and roti bakar in the morning. The other stalls open only for lunch and dinner. Coco Island must be the cleanest food court in Penang- the floors are spotless, even the food prep areas are spick and span.
Decor is faintly nautical with canoes hung up ceilings, hanging pots of plants and floors of wooden planks. There is an alfresco dining area fronting the street. No sea views though. Directly opposite Coco Island is the Gurney Wharf promenade project scheduled to open in 2023.
At the Dim Sum stall, it's self service :you order and pick up your selection from the steamer, and then order your choice of tea which is then brought to your table. My order of two types of steamed dim sum with a pot of Chrysanthemum tea was RM13.50. So prices are reasonably cheap even by Penang standards.
