Via Pre Italian👍@Penang Road
Via Pre Penang (since 2012) is a sister restaurant to Via Pre KL. It has affordable set lunches from RM29 to RM39++ upwards on weekdays. But of course on public holidays and eves of PH, everything is “a la carte”. The waiters are efficient. I got a corner table within 5 minutes. And service is friendly - waiters asked how my meal was at least twice. A sign of well trained staff 👍
On a public holiday, the restaurant was packed with families and Millennials celebrating birthdays or special days. The interior decor is typically Italian bistro with chequer board tiles and rustic wooden furniture. There are more tables on the upper floor. Via Pre also sells Italian cheeses and salamis by the 100g.
Despite the bistro setting, prices are definitely restaurant prices ie $$ to $$$. My RM42 ++ cold cuts and cheese platter was a bit of a mix. The cold cuts - especially the serano ham were good but the cheese selection was average. My order of grilled eggplant RM15++ though was just average. My bill was RM67.05. The complimentary focaccia bread to dip into balsamic vinaigrette and olive oil was excellent - just the right amount of chewiness and a hint of salt on the crust.
A diner at the table next to mine received a complimentary pannacotta dessert because it was her birthday. Nice gesture. 👍
