Blue Bellvine Nyonya Cuisine 😏@ Lebuh Noordin
At last a Peranakan restaurant serving home cooking style dishes in a fine dining setting in Penang. Opened just last January, the Blue Bellvine $$$ occupies the ground floor of a shophouse in Lebuh Noordin. The proprietor told me the kitchen is manned by two of her relatives who have a combined age of a century and a half.
The interior decor is indeed upmarket with tables and banquette style plush seats comfortably apart. Family portraits adorn one wall. The air well under a skylight is dominated by a very large vertical garden. The proprietor said the feature wall of live plants cost RM18,000 to install and a further RM4,000 was spent on maintenance over the past year.
There is a bar counter and a smaller dining area inside with a traditional kopitiam table and marble top stools.
My lunch order of Pie Tee, Prawn Sambal, Signature 5 Spice Lor Bak and Nyonya Chang was RM69. I think the Prawn Sambal RM28 was $$$ given the medium size prawns.
