Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodles @ Campbell Street

Dinner at Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodles restaurant at Campbell Street. Tok Tok Mee was the original name of Wan Tan Mee because the itinerant vendors carried two sticks which were clapped together to announce their arrival at a residential neighbourhood. The Tok Tok Bamboo Noodles restaurant makes its own noodles in-house using bamboo poles, hence it's other name Bamboo Noodles.

My dinner order was RM16.20, including options like char siu pork, two extra wontons and a iced nutmeg drink. At other Wan Tan Mee stalls in Penang, prices range from RM4.50 to RM7. So you are paying RM12 excluding the nutmeg drink for your Wan Tan Mee at Tok Tok Bamboo Noodles. I think the price premium is more than justified because the bamboo noodles are hand made, the noodles are topped with a dusting of dried shrimp roe like the noodles sold in very traditional Hong Kong Cha Chaan Teng and the 5 wontons (two are optional extras) are really good.
