Indigo @Blue Mansion
The Blue Mansion or Cheong Fatt Tse mansion has two restaurants- Indigo on the upper floor facing Leith Road is a fine dining restaurant serving Asian fusion food and classics like steak and foie gras. I made a reservation for the Indigo set lunch on a weekday (RM88++). As you would expect from one of Penang’s top fine dining restaurants, the food, ambience and level of service at Indigo was excellent. 👍.
Indigo’s Contemporary Asian interior decor departs from the rest of the Blue Mansion’s Peranakan decor, making the use of the high ceilings to good effect. There is a feature wall with a huge circular antique carpet. Tables are well spaced out. Adjoining tables are separated by batik cloth dividers.
Lighting from ceiling hung lamps made of cane wicker and cloth complement blue tablecloths and light wood floors. The dining room opens out to a veranda with more seating and walls richly decorated with cracked porcelain murals. The veranda has ornate iron work balconies that are reminiscent of British Indian architecture.
The other restaurant at the Blue Mansion is Mango, a casual dining restaurant in a small annexe. Mango serves a la Carte meals at a much lower price point than Indigo.
