Sambal@Beach Street
Opened last year, Sambal is a small restaurant at Beach Street that serves Asian fusion food with slightly risque descriptions. For example Sambal's “3 girls and a dirty guy” dish describes 3 paus (Asian steamed buns) with a patty of spicy sambal fishcake, served in a bread basket. The menu also has a vegetarian version. Of course, this menu item is the “3 nuns and a monk”. 😏
For some unknown reason, all the diners at Sambal on the day I dined at the restaurant were girls. I think but I cannot 100% certain I overheard at least two orders for the “3 girls and a dirty guy.” 😜
Guess clever marketing works if you know what your primary customer market wants. 😏
