Kirana Residence Update July 2025
I last visited Kirana Residence in July 2022 just after the worst of COVID 19. Then I found all the common areas were well maintained.
In 2025, I found a different building management team had taken charge at Kirana. Maintenance standards have actually IMPROVED compared to my last visit three years ago. The current Building Manager Enche Amin and his team had TO MY PLEASANT SURPRISE even exceeded my exacting expectations (I am a former chairman of Kirana Management Corporation from 2010-2011).
I was happy to meet up again with Hafiz the maintenance guy. He has been on the staff of the Kirana since 2010 when I was KMC chairman. I was also glad to meet Ms Murni, one of the 4 cleaners, I knew from about 10 years ago.
I found Kirana‘s new building manager Enche Amin has a degree in engineering and 15 years experience in Property Management. Enche Amin was both surprised and delighted when I presented him with a book by Paul Arden.
I told Enche Amin his book “It's not how good you are, it's how good you WANT TO BE” influenced me greatly. Now I give a copy to each and every Building Manager at Kirana Residence in the hope it will inspire him or her to be what they want to be.
Later I had the opportunity to talk to Mr Howard Ong, current KMC Chairman, for over an hour. We discussed the misperception of many real estate agents who think Kirana is an aging and deteriorating condominium in the heart of KL. I pointed out Kirana might be 25 years old, but maintenance standards are first class. I could not even find a single scrap piece of rubbish on the floors of the common areas. Everything was well maintained - the sun loungers by the 2F poolside may be 15 years old, but were not dirty. Yes, folks I notice small details like this in all the properties I have owned
Howard Ong updated me on the MC committee’s plans to implement RFID tags for automatic entry into the Kirana car park. EV charging stations are also being considered and might be implemented soon👍

My self portrait in a lobby mirror. KL based Geoff Thomas ID’s design aesthetic of a restrained monochrome palette, with the use of reflecting surfaces, contrasting textures and LED lighting in 2011 has not dated.
Security is top notch with 2 security guards on call round the clock. One at the concierge desk, the other on patrol.
