Sheaffer Targa 23K Electroplated BP

The Targa was a slimline fountain pen introduced in the 1980s by Sheaffer. With its cylindrical barrel and diminutive girth, the Targa still looks like a modern pen in 2022. This ball point is the TRZ Model 70 in 23K electroplated gold. The clip has Sheaffer’s White Dot and the barrel end has a black plastic insert.

The pen has an attractive fluted design with fine parallel lines chiselled in the barrel. The centre band has the words “Sheaffer Gold Electroplated “ and a crown engraved.

I bought the ballpoint pen from a seller on Carousell for HKD 500 in 2019. It was part of a set with a Targa gold plated fountain pen with a steel nib. However the fountain pen looks like it was plated with 10K instead of the lustrous 23K of the ballpoint pen.
