Cross Century Classic 14K Gold filled Mk 2 FP

This Cross Century II 14K gold filled fountain pen dates from 1996. The pen has the classic and iconic conical barrel end topped with a black finial. The cap end is engraved with the words, “V20 14K Gold filled/Rolled Gold Barrel/Cap”. Cross made two types of rolled gold fountain pens in 10K and 14K. So this fountain pen was the more expensive version.

The pen is equipped with a 18K gold nib, marked B. The Mk 2 version is a slightly broader diameter pen compared to the Mk 1 version introduced in 1946. I had a Mk 1 Century Classic that had problems with the feed and nib and sent it back for repair. Cross is one of the few pen manufacturers that still give lifetime warranties against mechanical failure. But I was still pleasantly surprised when Cross sent me a Mk 2 version as a replacement.
